Artist Statement

My practice investigates is how religion affects us, and how we affect religion. I am a Buddhist, so you can find a lot of religious elements in my artworks. I find that many people around me are atheists but they are not averse to some religious rituals in their daily lives. Just as many families in China will offer incense and prayers at Taoist or Buddhist temples during the new year. Most of them can not even tell the difference between Taoism and Buddhism. This does not prevent them from attending religious services and enjoying religious art. What influenced them to want to pray? Apart from their own association with the past, I believe that religious sculptures, paintings and ritual objects all had an influence on them, and these were all religious arts.
