Murakami Takashi is keenly aware that contemporary Western art is very different from Japanese art-making, and that what matters is how our generation can create what is most essential without relying on any inherent cultural system. His work thus blends the opposing elements between Eastern tradition and Western civilisation, refined art and popular culture, while retaining the entertainment and spectacle of his work. A product of a combination of contemporary Japanese popular cartoon art and the characteristics of traditional Japanese painting style.
After a deeper study of him, I found that such description was not exaggerated at all. Besides, his line application, graffiti and picture control enabled us to have a more profound understanding of the nature of painting
